My early years in the UK, I craved for a sour salad, hence I have created a new salad, this was the closest I could get to a Burmese Mango Salad. Granny Smith Apples are nice and tart and good texture for this perfect salad.
Drain all salt water from the apples. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly. Garnish with chopped coriander. If the apples are not sour enough, add some lemon.
How should it taste:-
Should taste sour, salty and hot (the Burmese called this “chin ngan saat”) and peanuts and fried onions should give you extra texture. It is best served with a meat curry or a stew.
