Ingredients
  • 400g Minced lamb
  • Chick Peas one 400g tin
  • 3 cloves Garlic crushed
  • Ginger a thumb sized crushed
  • 3 large Onions chopped
  • 2 medium Potatoes cut into 8ths
  • Half a Lemon(squeezed)
  • Masala one dessert spoon
  • Cumin one dessert spoon
  • Paprika one dessert spoon
  • Extra hot chilli powder one teaspoon
  • Salt one teaspoon
  • Turmeric one teaspoon
  • Meat stock a cube soaked in some hot water
  • Oil 2 dessert spoons
  • Cuisine: Cooking time: 50 mins Serving: 4 people

    This is a budget meal which will cost less than a fiver to make. Any minced meat can be used for this recipe.

    Preparation:-
    Preheat the oven to 160c.

    Cooking
    Fry onions, garlic, ginger, masala, cumin, chilli, paprika, salt, lemon and stock until the onions are soft. Add some water if spices are too dry and/or they start sticking to the pan.

    Add the minced, break it up to make sure there are no lumps, straight out the packaging is preferred. After 10 mins or so on the hob, the meat should be brown, add the whole can of chick peas (do not drain the brine), this adds to the flavour. Add potatoes and stir. Cook in the oven for 30/40mins. Take it out of the oven and stir half way through and add water if needed. Reduce if necessary when it is out from the oven. The curry should be nice and think.

    Garnish with coriander and fresh chillies should you desire.

    Author’s Note:-
    Normally, I would marinate the meat first, in this case marinating will make the minced lumpy, hence all seasoning goes in the sauce.

    This can be served with either Rice or Naan bread. Daal goes very well with this.

    Mince Lamb from Ocado(£3) was used in this recipe.
